Quick Tip – MOSS 2007 Issue with Actions Item on external SharePoint List

Recently I had an issue with one of my external SharePoint lists not showing the required Actions I had previously created for it :

After some investigation it turned out that the specificfinder method in the ADF XML file had an incorrect definition type for one of the columns specified :

<Method Name=”sp.[Working Day Calendar]SpecificFinder”>

Pasted from <https://red1s.wordpress.com/2009/12/05/quick-tip-moss-2007-issue-with-actions-item-on-external-sharepoint-list/>

Turns out the dateTime column type had been changed to an Int32 value in the database

Once the data column definition had been updated the actions menu displayed the required actions correctly:

Changed from :

<TypeDescriptor TypeName=”System.DateTime” Name=”StartTime” />

To:

<TypeDescriptor TypeName=”System.Int32″ Name=”StartTime” />
